If you love good food, great wine, and unparalleled views, clear your schedule and escape for a day to Tokara. Nestled on the upper slopes of the Simonsberg mountain, our vineyard and olive grove overlook two of mother nature’s most awe-inspiring sights, False Bay and Table Mountain.

Because of our unique location, the climate, geography and soils combine to produce perfect grapes. These grapes are then hand-picked and gently transported to our state-of-the-art cellar, where our exceptionally skilled winemakers transform the fruit into award-winning Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc wines.

What’s in a name?

Tokara is a family-owned vineyard and derives its name from the founders’ children, Thomas and Kara.

OUR WINES

In the mid-nineties, we planted our very first Cabernet Sauvignon vines. Even then, our visionary founder had the unrelenting ambition of producing one of the best wines in the world. What we’ve come to understand is that truly great wine expresses a unique sense of place. It transports you, and that’s what makes every bottle exceptional.

At Tokara, we focus on two of the greatest grape varieties in the world, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc. They are reflected in our three ranges: Tokara Premium Collection (a fusion from various sites), Tokara Reserve Collection (picked from a single vineyard), and Tokara Directors Reserve (the very best and most expressive parcels used to create iconic blends that define our flagship wines).

Throughout the classical wine-producing regions of the world, there’s a natural association between the olive grove and the vineyard. Tokara’s olive oil journey began more than two decades ago when Anne-Marie Ferreira planted famed Tuscan olive varieties across the estate. It’s from these mature trees that we harvest plump ripe olives to obtain the natural fruit oil.

Today, we produce Tokara’s cold-pressed olive oils in our boutique-style olive mill adjacent to our Delicatessen. We extract our premium Extra Virgin Olive Oil using a state-of-the-art Italian Olive Press that allows precise control over the entire process.
